The Zandvoorts Museum is hosting a duo exhibition featuring two illustrators: Hans van Pelt, with cartoons created for newspapers, and Henriët van Roosmalen, with illustrations from the scavenger hunt Rein, the White Dune Rabbit. The exhibitions run from May 30 to July 26, 2026.
Hans van Pelt Cartoons
Zandvoorts Museum presents a retrospective of Hans van Pelt’s cartoons from May 30 to July 26, 2026. The cartoons are on display in the ZM-Passage. The cartoons by Hans van Pelt form a unique blend of humor, observation, and social engagement. In his work, gentle irony and sharp criticism alternate. Using simple means—felt-tip pen, paper, and a keen eye—he manages to capture everyday situations that are both recognizable and confronting. Today, Hans van Pelt regularly works on commission for weeklies and magazines. In addition, he publishes weekly cartoons in the Zandvoortse Courant, where he depicts current events and everyday situations in his own characteristic way.
Henriët van Roosmalen – Rein the White Dune Rabbit
Original drawings by Henriët van Roosmalen can be admired in the Museum Café. The exhibition features illustrations of Rein, the white Dune Rabbit from Zandvoort. Visitors will discover atmospheric images of the historic village and well-known locations. The Town Hall and the Village Church come to life again in watercolors and pen drawings. Lost hotels on the boulevard are also featured in the exhibition. The exhibition is suitable for children, families, and local history enthusiasts. The scavenger hunt starts at Zandvoorts Museum and leads through historic Zandvoort. Along the way, visitors discover stories, heritage, and educational tasks in a playful manner. The scavenger hunt booklet is available at the museum desk. Coloring pages of Rein can be downloaded for free via the museum’s website.
Henriët van Roosmalen has worked as a professional illustrator for museums and educational projects since 1999. Her work has received several awards, including the international audience award of the Key Colours Illustrator’s Award.
