The Zandvoorts Museum upholds the idea that the history of Zandvoort has been and is being made by all those who have something to do with Zandvoort. As a result, they have the right to have their history cherished and made available to everyone. The objects and photos digitised by the museum are freely accessible to everyone for that reason. A gesture that is appreciated by many. This also does justice to the efforts of the museum’s many volunteers, as the publication of the data and explanatory text they have contributed makes their important work directly visible to everyone. The museum imposes no restrictions on the use of the digital material. In the museum’s opinion, these are “only” digital images and not the original image or object itself. Items not offered via the website (such as digitised films) are not directly available to anyone other than museum staff. This does not alter the fact that, in consultation and under certain conditions, it is possible to share these with each other. However, the Zandvoorts Museum will, partly in response to this letter, amend the website and provide a guideline regarding the digitised locations in which use on a non-commercial basis is permitted and that source references are requested upon publication. Use on a commercial basis is only permitted after consultation with and written permission from the Museum.
