From May 30 to July 26, 2026, Zandvoorts Museum presents a special exhibition by illustrator Henriët van Roosmalen. In the Museum Café, visitors can admire the original drawings of Rein, the White Dune Rabbit, a cheerful and educational scavenger hunt through historic Zandvoort.
The exhibition introduces visitors to atmospheric illustrations of the old village. Iconic buildings come to life in the watercolors and pen drawings, such as the Town Hall, the Village Church, and vanished hotels on the Zandvoort boulevard. The exhibition is suitable for children, families, and lovers of illustration art and local history.
Rein, the White Dune Rabbit takes children on an adventure through the center of Zandvoort. Rein accidentally jumps through a time hole and ends up in modern-day Zandvoort. His rabbit friends have disappeared, and together with the participants, he goes in search of clues in the village.
The scavenger hunt starts at the Zandvoorts Museum and combines heritage, stories, and education in a playful way. The booklet was developed for Festival Vloed and is available at the museum desk. On our site, you can download fun coloring pages of Rein.
Henriët van Roosmalen is an illustrator, writer, and teacher. She is known for children’s books, educational projects, and the popular character Kees the Mouse. Since 1999, she has worked as a professional illustrator for museums, heritage projects, and teaching methods throughout the Netherlands. Her work has been awarded several times, including the international audience award of the Key Colours Illustrator’s Award.
