Villa Paula

Villa Paula was one of the impressive villas along the Boulevard de Favauge. The building gained particular fame when Empress Elisabeth of Austria, better known as Sisi, stayed there. On the advice of Dr. J.G. Mezger, she came to Zandvoort for the healthy sea air and peace and quiet. The villa was demolished during World War II to make way for the construction of the Atlantic Wall. This model, built by the Bomschuitenclub, keeps alive the memory of a building that is no longer there and of the visit by one of Europe’s most famous royal figures.
