The Zandvoorts Museum collection includes a portrait sketch by the artist Maarten Krabbé. The sketch is composed in graphite and charcoal. It is a 1936 portrait of Mr. Bol. It is unknown which Mr. Bol this refers to. It is possibly Evert Bol, the caretaker of the municipal building on the Grote Krocht.
Maarten Krabbé was the son of painter Hendrik Maarten Krabbé (1868-1931) and singer Miep Rust (1874-1956). Krabbé grew up in Het Gooi, where he enjoyed nature intensely, which later became visible in his work. He moved to Bussum in 1913 and to Zandvoort in 1922. Maarten Krabbé is the father of Jeroen Krabbé and the grandfather of Jasper Krabbé, both of whom are also active in the arts. Read more about Maarten Krabbé here.
