With Poulssen, the museum is bringing on board a director with a broad background in heritage and the museum world. Until recently, she was the Heritage Team Manager for the City of Haarlem. There, she led a team of archaeologists and historic preservation experts and worked on new heritage policy. Previously, she held leadership positions at organizations including the Kunsthal Rotterdam, the Nieuwe Instituut, and Cultuurcompagnie Noord-Holland.

Last year, the Zandvoort Museum moved to its new location on Louis Davidsstraat. From this new home, the museum plans to continue developing a program over the coming years that focuses on the history of Zandvoort while also making room for contemporary stories and new perspectives.

Angeli Poulssen:
“I’m incredibly excited to bring Zandvoort’s remarkable history and stories to life. The museum has great potential, not only as a place where the past is told, but also as a cultural hub for residents and visitors. Its transformation from a fishing village to a seaside resort is unique and deserves a platform. At the same time, we also want to document current developments so that we can continue to build the collection of the future. With exhibitions that focus on experience, education, and quality, I hope that visitors will not only learn something new but, above all, leave feeling inspired and uplifted.”

Chairwoman Karina Tan is pleased with Poulssen’s arrival:

“Theboard of the Zandvoorts Museum Foundation and the team of staff and volunteers are looking forward to working with Angeli Poulssen as the new director. Her ideas align well with the museum’s vision, which interim director Fokelien Renckens-Stenneberg has already firmly established. We believe the Zandvoorts Museum has a bright future with Angeli as director at our new location, where the heritage of the municipality of Zandvoort will be interwoven with contemporary stories and related programming.”

“Fokelien has accomplished an enormous amount of work for the museum in a short period of time. It is a privilege to be able to build on that with all my energy. I’m bursting with new ideas.”
