Permanent Collection
The history of Zandvoort is widely discussed through interactive collection management, organized walks through the old center of the village, and the heritage learning path for primary schools. In addition, the nostalgia of old Zandvoort can be found in the various period rooms of the museum.
The Management
In addition to its own material, the Zandvoorts Museum manages the collection of the municipality of Zandvoort. This collection consists of a large number of objects that have to do with Zandvoort’s past. Objects, such as paintings, sculptures and images, that tell something about the past of Zandvoort; of people, known or less known, who once lived and worked in Zandvoort; of buildings that the municipality was rich in; of associations that provided a cultural connection and of amusements that provided relaxation both nationally and internationally and still do.
The subcollection of the Zandvoort photographer Bakels is unique, as is the collection of photos and related items surrounding the national car races first organized in 1939 on what was then a street circuit and, after the Second World War, on the current national race circuit in Zandvoort. It is impossible to exhibit all these objects. Nevertheless, all objects can be seen via our site, which also makes the Zandvoorts Museum special in this way.
